On entry to the centre all pupils are given a baseline assessment which establishes their target grade for the end of their academic year. The target, termed ‘closing the gap’ is derived from and internet based test on Alfie Cloud, Key Stage 2 data and data provided by the referring school.
All subjects are regularly assessed and pupils receive feedback on a lesson by lesson basis. All marking assesses achievement and gives guidance on how to progress further.
Every half term teachers assess the pupils’ progress against their closing the gap target and determines whether the pupil is exceeding expectations, is working to expectations or is below their expected level. Reports are issued to parents 6 times a year, usually at the end of each half term. There are also three parents’ evenings per year which anable parents to discuss any issues which have arisen from the reports.
